Partnering with Communities to Build Trust and Advance Health Equity
On Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, we were so excited to host the 14th Health Equity & Social Justice (HESJ) Conference in McGowan South at DePaul University. The conference was hosted by DePaul University’s Master of Public Health Program and the Center for Community Health Equity. It was a day to rekindle our networks, renew our collective passion for health equity, celebrate the remarkable work of our community partners, and center our efforts to facilitate health and well-being across Chicago.

There was a poster session of research projects involving public health throughout Chicago, as well as presentations from a community-based panel led by keynote speaker Melissa Maguire, who is the Executive Director of the Illinois Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (IAFCC). The rest of the panel included Director of Programs Kamari Thompson from Mobile Care Chicago, Chief Executive Officer Steph Willding from CommunityHealth, and Executive Director Fatema Mirza from Be Well Clinic. We were thrilled to be able to connect with community partners who are committed to investing in equitable and accessible healthcare for all Chicagoans!
