Runner and Bobby Studio Session

We were so excited to work with Runner and Bobby last week to record a new single about belonging and their community connections to Chicago. We were also grateful to partner with one of the Sound Recording Technology classes at DePaul University School of Music for the production of this new song. We finished the night off with an interview with Runner and Bobby where they shared their connection to music, Chicago, and their community. The interview will be posted to our Spotify soon!

Artist Spotlight: Jonathan Michael Castillo

We were so excited to spend the morning with Jonathan Michael Castillo on 29th January 2026, a visual artist, photographer and educator based in Chicago. Castillo’s work covers a variety of people and places but recently has focused on the immigrant community in Chicago that makes up many of the city’s vibrant small businesses. Castillo created a large-scale permanent installation of his work at O’Hare International Airport in the Terminal 5 that includes giant light boxes with photos from immigrant small businesses entitled: “Immigrant Owned.”

CCHE 10th Anniversary Celebration

This past October we were so excited to celebrate 10 years of working towards community health and equity across the Chicagoland area. We are so grateful to those individuals and community partners who have been with us since the beginning and are so excited to welcome new faces in our journey towards creating a healthier and more equitable Chicago (and beyond). We truly couldn’t do this hard work without all of our amazing supporters and partners! Please stay tuned for more photos and reflections from ten years of CCHE in the next few weeks. What does health equity in Chicago look like to you? We were so excited to celebrate ten years at the Center for Community Health Equity this fall. Upon reflecting upon this moment in time and the work that has gotten this organization to this place, we are honored to work alongside so many dedicated individuals and organizations who are committed to healthy and equitable communities across Chicagoland. As we look forward to another ten years of working collaboratively and growing our partnerships with Rush and DePaul, as well as other community groups, we know there is work to be done. There are still wide gaps in life expectancy and health outcomes that are simply reflective of where an individual or a family lives and puts down their roots. There is more research to be done about the idea of belonging and syndemics. We strive to create unique solutions to public health issues, while centering marginalized population’s voices at the center of those conversations. We believe that communication and collaboration are critical pieces of moving towards a healthier and more equitable place for all Chicagoans to live and grow. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey over the past ten years and who have dedicated their time to ensuring that all of Chicago has a stake in their community!
